About Project 18

We love children, and we raise our children to love and respect the earth. I'm passionate about children and it pains me to see children suffering in any way. For those of you with children under 5, or even older, try this simple visualisation exercise for a moment:

Imagine taking your child into a crowded street at dusk, walking away from them and never going back. Imagine the fear in that child when they realise you're gone. Imagine them wandering scared and hungry through the streets... imagine their life now, day after day.

If you can do this exercise without tears, then you are stronger than me, but for 1.8 million children in Indonesia, this is reality. Every night 1.8 million children in Indonesia sleep homeless. For most of us that number is unfathomable.

Volunteer

Project 18 desperately needs passionate, committed people who can spare some time. Volunteering is an excellent way to "give back" to the community, meet like-minded people and to feel like you've made a difference.

We currently have the following positions available:

Donation Collections

We need motivated people who are not backwards in coming forwards who are willing to spend some time contacting businesses to discuss our ‘sponsorship for goods’ program. We always need prizes for up and coming competitions, as well as fabric to create the products in our shop. We already have several businesses in our corporate affiliate program who provide us with end of roll fabrics but more volume means more sales and takes us closer to our targets.

This is a great opportunity to use a few spare hours at home, during the evenings, on the weekends or for stay at home mums who want to keep their skills up and be involved with the community. We will provide you with an association email address and/or stationery so you can send official emails and letters of request.

You will need to be motivated, committed, well spoken and diplomatic.

....send us an email if you can help!

Events Committee

Do you have experience in event management, marketing/PR and/or fundraising? Do you have amazing ideas with the financial sensibility to be able to make a profit? Then we need to speak to you! We are keen to gather a team of motivated and switched on volunteers that can work together, nationwide, to put together fundraising events and promotions that will not only raise money but awareness for Project 18 Inc at the same time as promoting businesses in your community.

The events committee will be responsible for securing venues, celebrity guests, prizes, sponsorship, advertising and publicity for the events and promotions being run by Project 18. The committee will work as a team under the management of the association president, and PR and marketing manager.

You will need to be motivated and have some experience in event management, marketing, public relations, advertising or corporate fundraising. You will need to be able to work well as part of a team and communicate with a vast array of people. While you may not have a large number of hours to commit per week, a long term commitment to the task would be greatly appreciated!

....send us an email if you can help!

Sewing & Craft Groups

We would be interested in hearing from sewing or craft groups on the Sunshine Coast, or individuals who would be willing to sew for the project. We have a large stash of fabrics that can be picked up from Yandina Creek, along with templates for our products or we can discuss the possibility of selling something you've designed yourself.

You will need to have an eye for detail and be able to sew at a reasonably high standard for sale.

Groups or individuals who would like to contribute but are not located on the Sunshine Coast are also welcome but will either need to travel to pick up fabrics and patterns or will need to source materials from local business through our corporate affiliate program and be responsible for the cost of sending them to us.

...send us an email if you can help

Product Photographer - Sunshine Coast

We desperately need an experienced product photographer who would be willing to donate a couple of hours per week or fortnight to photograph our new sewing project items. Photos only need to be low res jpg format and can be emailed to us on completion. We can drop off our products and pick them up again from your home or studio on the Sunshine Coast.

Visit our online shop to see the types of products that we produce. We will probably have 10 - 20 new products per week to be photographed but would appreciate any amount of time that could be donated to free us up to do other things.

...send us an email if you can help

Administration/Information

A great opportunity again for SAHM or SAHD's who would like to commit a few hours per week to answering emails regarding our up and coming donation programs and charity shop enquiries, general administration tasks, correspondence etc. You will need to be well spoken and friendly.

We welcome virtual assistants who would like to commit a few hours of their time per week to charity!

....send us an email if you can help!

Market Stall Staff

Expressions of interest at this stage to see if we can get a roster of willing volunteers to help man a stall at the Eumundi markets on Wednesday and/or Saturdays. Unfortunately due to family commitments this is not something we will be able to do without the commitment of a roster of volunteers who can (wo)man the stall to help sell the sewing project items and hand out flyers to raise awareness.

....send us an email if you can help!

If you would like to volunteer for any of these positions, or have another service that you would like to offer to Project 18, please use the contact form and send us an email!
